sweet article, but since when did it become cheaper to buy a b16 block, sleeve it and put forged internals than just buying a b18c?
b16 block- $100
sleeving- $800
rods- $300
pistons- $400
total- $1600

b18c block- $600-700

granted id much rather have the b16 block worked than the b18c, but he was kinda focusing on cost in the beginning, and $1000 difference is pretty significant. am i missing something. help me out here

with all the shit hes mentioning, it sounds like he talking about building a race motor. 12.5:1 comp., revving to 12k???it all comes down to how much the person is willing to spend.

sleeve a b18c to 86mm and youll get almost a 2.2 liter with a r/s ration of 1.58:1. or you can do his "1.9" liter setup and have a 1.68 r/s ratio but minus .3 liters. and too really take advantake of its revving abilities youd now be forced to fully build the valvetrain, whereas with the 2.2 it wouldnt really be necessary and can still safely rev to 9k+ if needed with a built valvetrain.

the motor he was mentioned was clearly no economy motor and like i said in the beginning it all comes down to how much u wanna spend

that articale has been around for years.. during that article many people have built frankenstiens that is still running today.. that article stress so much on r/s and not the potential of an ls, crvtec.. personally i have heard very few people stroke a b16. any motor will not be reliable if it isnt built right.. but why rev a motor 12k? there are very few cams out there that makes power at 9k.. check out http://www.importreview.com they have allmotor vtec engines, not just frankenstiens making 200whp+ before 9k rpms.
