100 mpg Mustang
I did an unintended experiment with my 99 mustang GT (4.6, 5 spd, 3.27 gear) the best it ever did normally aspirated on 93 octane gas was 20 mpg on round trips to my parents in the Smokies. I installed a KB 6 psi blower and a 3.55 gear set and it got 20-maybe 21 on the same trip. Lastly, I installed an independent rear suspension which had 3.27 gearing and ran the car on Shell w/10% ethanol. The mpg went up to 22 and in one case 23mpg with this combination. The only thing changed was of course the blower tune, but other than that, the computer was only adjusted for the gearing. These numbers were repeatable on several trips over several years. In one case the trip was at a high rate of speed due to my father's health. It's also interesting that it happened both using the florida flatlands and also high above sea level. Any comments?

the kenne bell is a positive displacement blower. the 3.27 gear allowed you to cruise at lower rpm but higher mph....your gas choice didnt matter really, e10 has been in use for some time now. the tune probably didnt touch any of your fuel tables at vacuum pressures which is what you would use during a cruise condition.

I have picked up a considerable amount (especially city) through tuning.
Also some people have claimed to have success with browns gas on a carb-d car. my guess is this guy figured out a way to either efficently produce enough on demand or store it and release it on demand.

the gasoline is what lubricates the fuel pumps. e85 doesn't work as well as a lubricant and it tends to burn out the pump. also since you need more fuel some stock fuel pumps not equipped for e85 don't flow enough fuel .. so either way you usually have to swap out to a different pump.

You can't run E-85 on any car, it will eat out a lot of components.
check your sources.
it depends. Quite a few modern cars are E85 ready without being "Flex". WRX/STi for example.

Just wanted to chime in that according to what I've read, E-85 gets worse fuel eocnomy than gasoline because E-85 as a substance has less potental kinetic energy in it. There is just less energy in a molecule of it. One of the posters before attributed it to the different stoichometic mixture, I have never heard of that being the case.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain I'm not.
