what is DoD ? so with e85.. its getting a bad rap because the cars that are sold to be able to run on it suck ass? So if you tuned it correctly you would actually get better mpg's then gas?

dod is displacement on demand. e.g. a v8 that can run on 4 cylinders on the highway when power isn't needed. some gm/chrysler vehicles have it now. impala and 300 are two i know for sure.

no it gets worse MPG than gas, but makes more power.

DoD will help, but I think this guy is seeing 400whp AT 80mpg, not 400whp AND 80mpg.

The reason e85 gets worse mileage is because the stoich is ~9:1. since it has to be a richer mixture you're always going to have to use more of it, all else being equal.

As I understood it he claims to get 80mpg with e-85 and could get up to 100mpg with gas.

His story hasn't really been proven as i'm sure he wants to keep any secrets he might have in place till after the 10million dollar challenge.

A few people on another forum claim to know the guy and they all are claim he is full of shit. Said his shop doesn't even have running water and is very low budget. I'm not sure as anything is possible.

Why the hell would he sit here and tease us with this crap and not tell us how to do it. what a dick.

you can get more from a car designed for e85 only use than this flex fuel stuff. these 9-1 scr cars do not utilize the e85 like they could...the most a tune could do is allow you to run a bit more ignition timing. its the actual mechanical side that will affect it. more compression, like in the 13, 14, and even 15 to 1 range is where you will see the e85's effectiveness. you may not get stupid amounts of mpg but the power increase will be there. the biggest thing is getting the volumetric efficiency above 100 percent for the entire rpm range or damn close. most ideal way is with forced induction...you can get 100 or more from an n/a engine but usually the cam design is a little more aggressive than most would like to have on the street and are usually more top end oriented leaving them little/no torque on the bottom end for daily driving.
