You may own what is known as a "flexfuel" car which is made to run on that crap. The majority of America's vehicles are still running on the older technology and are not properly equipt to run on it.
Let me elaborate on what they were regurgitating.
E85 has lower reaction temperatures than gasoline. That means you can advance your timing and increase your compression ratio far more than you can do with regular gasoline. Because of this, it IS possible to make more power with it.
Thats about where its advantages end.
E-85 eats up your fuel system (unless you have a car specifically designed for it,. Even then, I question the long-term effects of E-85 on the fuel system). Also, E-85 has less potental kinetic energy in it than an equal amount of gasoline. That means that if you were able to extract and utilize 100% of the energy from a molecule of E-85 and a molecule of regular gasoline, you'd get more out of the gasoline.
E-85 isn't the answer to anything but appeasing those who blindly chant, "Lessen our dependancy on oil" and the latest and greatest way for peopel to make money off of America's ignorance.

I'll be waiting for the local station to carry e-85. Some of the reasoning you guys have for disliking it is a joke. I'm not even sure it is worth bothering to explain it yet again. It's been covered and while it isn't the answer to everything it sure is a good step in the right direction.
If you can't understand that then start a new thread and i'm sure it can be gone over in a bit simpler manner for those that didn't understand the benifits.
As for the stations selling non 10% I can't find any here in clearwater. I know there are some but where I have no clue. Good luck.

E85 won't eat your fuel system BTW, the concentration is far too low.
you guys are tweaked in the head. E85 and 10% are two completely different things.
The mixed shit fucks everything up because the ethanol part doesn't do anything but get in the gas's way.
Straight ethanol as in E85 has advantageous and this that and the other, and sure you can make power and blah blah blah.
I and most everyone else that is bitching about how shitty it is, is bitching about the mix shit.
