The Indy fuel is E98 with 2% Sunoco race gas, I've worked the SPGP for 20 years and have done extensive testing of E98 fuel with regards to fire extinguishment.
There is no significant pipeline infrastructure for ethanol currently, it either shipped by truck, train or barge.
The Brazilian Ethanol is much more powerful than the doemestic corn ethanol, the Brazillian stuff is based on sugar.
The domestic Ethanol industry is bankrolling Obama for prez, I assume the payoff will be limiting Brazilian ethanol imports
My personal experience with E10 has been very good, in my 99 Mustang (4.6, 5spd, 3.27 gear) I used to get 20 mpg, I installed a KB 6 psi blower , with a blower tune, used Shell E10 and picked up 2 mpg, and 130 HP.(I thought I posted that somewhere around here).
I'm a fan of Ethanol, I don't mind throwing some extra bucks at farmers and Brazilians, because by and large they're not flying airliners into hi rise buildings and killing people that I know.
