Not to be a dick... but anyone who is looking for a "cheap LT4 built 383" probably has no business having one in their car. Meaning that you don't understand the mechanics, build process, the swap itself, what matching parts, etc to maintain it and keep it running properly.
I think your heading down the wrong road thinking its only gonna cost you a few thousand for the set up. And You shouldn't be asking people on TR what tips they recommend for this swap because most don't know. And you'll end up getting inaccurate advice about it. If your asking about a very specific set up (like an LT4 383) you should be talking to speed shop mechanics, LT1/LT4 small block engine builders, current LT4 383 owners and key people in the racing community who work on these engines.

why did you chose a 383 let alone an LT4? whats wrong with a rebuilt 350 bottom end with a LT4 topend? that would get you under a 4k budget and have plenty of power for a broke ass college student. do you already have a block to work with? you are honestly not going to get anything wothwhile in terms of a complete LT4 for 4 grand or less unless a customer backed out on an order and they are desparate to make room. what was wrong with Na306StAnG's motor? it was everything you needed and all you would have to do is swap your intake onto it and done. LT4 style heads will run you no less than $1600 (assembled) then there is the $500+ intake to match them. you are asking way too much from your college student budget. even if the machine work was done for free and you could assemble the motor yourself you would still come out spending over $4k between the heads, intake and an Eagle (one of the cheapest out there) rotating assembly. take the advice from people on here instead of thinking you are being flamed.
I'd recommend Fernando at Transmission Physicians on Crenshaw Road. I'd recommend doing research on Camaroz28.com.
If your on a budget then a LT4 383 is not the way to go. You say you know what your doing, "for the most part" but I don't think you do because your asking about what kind of intake is best for the LT4.... well all there is an LT4 intake, no improved aftermarkets except for sheet metal intakes which are over $1000. Even edelbrock aftermarket ones you see are the exact same as stock.
You should ask these techs you've been talking to how much a "cheap" LT4 383 would cost. And you'll probably find its not so cheap. And when your looking for cheap parts like your doing, you'll probably end up spending more money because you don't know what you need or additional costs that go along with it.
I'd be looking at putting that money into making sure your car runs right, repair all the worn parts, and doing exhaust mods, and intake mods..

I don't think anyone has asked what you are actually looking for. Do you have a certain hp number or quarter mile time you are trying to reach? I say this because you may be able to achieve what you want without paying $4K for a new motor.
