alright to make sure you have no spark, take the plug wire that goes from the coil to the opti, leave it pluged into the coil, install a spark plug into the other end and lay it on a metal part of the car. Have someone crank it over and see if you see spark and that its continous, ie no interminent breaks.
If you dont chances are, you will be replacing the opti.......
If you do, check for injector pulse, easiest way is with a noid light. If you dont have one, use a test light. Most modern cars pulse thru the ground. To check, take a test light, hook it up to the postiive side of the battery. pull an injector connector. Probe each wire while someone cranks, if you get the ground side, the test light should pulse.
If you have no injector pulse it could still be the opti or the ECM. The ECM gets a signal from the opti to know when to fire the coil and the injectors.

yea, im giving in and ripping apart everything to pull the opti and buy a new one. with all the coolant leaks i have had, i have to guess its the opti.
any tricks to pulling the crank pulley off? i dont wanna fuck up any TDC shit.

also before you buy a new opti, since you have time check to see the condition of the cap and rotor, also are you sure the plug is completely connected to the opti
as for the cap and rotor I had a rotor shatter on me once, cheaper to do cap and rotor than the whole deal

Would not recommend just do a cap and rotor.. That optical eye can fail to and you'd never know it.
Just get a regular puller for the crank... and just mark how the crank pulley came and put it back on the same.
