if you had a bad coolant leak...and i mean pretty bad, how long should you smell it burning after the leak is gone?

not long at all, its water basically, it should evaporate relatively quickly.

if your trying to hunt down coolant leaks, go to discount and get a coolant system pressure tester thingy. basically its a radiator cap with a hose to a hand pump...pump it to like 10psi (our coolant systems are low pressure) and you should see what leaks you have.

I agree, in fact if you go to autozone i think they lend one out for a small deposit, that you get back when you return the tool....
