Also, could I get a recommendation on some headers/exhausts with some approx. pricing and where to buy? Thanks.

Joe: I have an 88 and owned it since 89, I used to believe the same thing in regard to the manual tranny`s as far as the header issue you can put em on if you want? thats your choice! the edelbrocks are 1 5/8 primaries and are around $340 painted, the slp are around $450 and 1 3/4 primaries and are a 409 stainless material(you will need to by the y pipe and do some welding. I have a nice pair of headmans i will sell for $75.00, they are 1 3/4 primaries with 3in collectors(your y pipe will need some welding)!
I`am curious as to what manafolds the other members of this thread would recomend?

new plugs, wires, ETC
intake
hooker long tube headers with a custom dual exhaust set up
shift kit
converter
i would prob do the above in that order. the biggest gains hp wise would prob be from the exhaust combo. biggest 1/4 mile time gain will be from the converter, as stated before. intake and exhaust would be the first thing cuz it really starts to open up the motor, allowing it to breathe a lot easier, just like the newer motors (lt1, ls1, ls6, ls2). after that, go to www.camaroz28.com
and look up 3rd gen camaro on Google >> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=camaro+3rd+gen

You could get a 350 in any year 85+ Z/28 Camaro. The ONLY thing you could NOT get was a 350 with a manual or T-tops in 91 and 92. There was rumors or one or 2 made it out of the factory with manuals or t-tops, but thats it. The 350 was only in a hardtop auto car with the 7th or 8th digit VIN code 8. 305 was a F.

Interesting....
They were too big to just post, but heres the data. It says nothing about being T-Tops, but it does say that its a special dealer order and I've heard of convertibles with 350s that don't have any RPO/VIN codes for the convertible so maybe this is the same.
