well i se alot of trash talking.i know a 350 puts down more power(of course) it is a 305 block flat top 0.60 pistons 480 cam with a 350 rotating assembly and 350 heads its feed by a holley 700 dual carb and takes every bit of it.hardly compares to a 4.3

good luck with you car!

Who's Trash talking? I own a 305, I know how much of a dog it is.

I would rather have the 4.3 V6, at least I would save a little more gas money.

if you got a 305 to even run mid 14's N/A I would be impressed.

And if you did all the money from the work and expensive parts would have been better spent on a 350.

Building up a 305 is kinda like if Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa on a paper towel.

That's too much credit, more like toilet paper. Seems more fitting.

well just go with the 350, hell just a few bolt ons, like the edelbrock performance package and you can get 400 hp easy.

That goes with any motor, It just how fast do you want to spend!, Give me enough money and I'll make anything fast There a guy in Cali that made a NA 4.3 all alum. motor produce over 500hp, but it was also a 11k motor with insane high compression ration:o . I think everyone just mean the 350 is more practical/cheaper to build

Example:

Flagship Marine celebrated its 50th year of manufacturing marine engines by introducing two new engines for 1996. The first addition is a 4.3-liter, throttle-body EFI V-6 rated 240 horsepower. This is a Vortec motor — an upgrade that offers the latest advances in combustion-chamber design. The payoff is substantial improvement in torque, reduced emissions and better fuel economy. This new V-6 generates as much power as the 305-cube V-8, which is the principal reason the old warhorse was retired. Not only does the new 4.3 put out more power, but, relative to other V-6s, it's both smaller and lighter. This means more power can be installed in a smaller compartment.
