I'm talking about a stock engine. Basically, if someone is giving you a running 305, put it in. Get a carb, intake, pulleys, headers etc. All of that stuff will carry over to a 350, then put a 350 in it if you're not happy.
All I'm saying is a 305 only "junk" if you are spending money building it. If you get one for a screaming deal, its still a V8.

if your on a short and I mean REALLY short budget get a 305 because you can find a good running 305 for about $75 hell I gave my 305 away https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/s...hreadid=151592
there almost not worth having as a paper weight.
my 305 put out 175 hp and 255 lbs or torq in a 3500 lb camaro. it was a turd to say the least. civics were spanking me left and right. THEN I built a 355 (350 bored .30 over) and im having a HARD time finding one to beat me. go with a 305 for economy v8 power go 350 for substantial power.

I think there alot of ass thrashing about this delema. I have talked to jeff adn I think hes gonna be fine. he is just gonna start with the current 305 and then bump it up later down the road. its a project. but for now I see no reason he cant spray the piss out of the 305 for fun until it blows. What other motor would you rather spray the hell out of and not care if it blows.. if it blows then it just makes for a good excuse to drop in our favorite 350.
