Just as expensive as any other new car.

Default I was thinking bout one too

I stopped and looked at a few several times. I really wanted the VR6. But too much dinero. Started looking at GTIs. Hmmm...still a bit pricy for a 2 door hatch...even tho its a badass 2 door hatch. Then I saw a SVT Focus at the local Ford dealer. I ended up spending around $15700!!!!! Out the door! Not kidding.
Factory rebates rule.
A co-worker has a brandnew GTi. We took turns driving each others' cars. We both agreed the SVT would certainly out-handle the GTi. They both seem comparitvly quick. Both cars had the same features, sunroof, Cd changer, crusie AC, all power, 17" wheels, etc. I have a 6 speed though, his is a 5 speed.
His was priced out around $23K. I really liked the VW a lot. Wasn't to impressed with the interior. Suprisingly it seemed kinda chinsy to me...and sort-of 80's looking. But I think my SVT Focus dash is ugly too, but who cares...remember less than 16K.
Bottom line...if I could have afforded the GTi, I would have bought one. Do it if you can. Forget the swap, not worth it.

Yeah, that's my only gripe with my car when the suspension was stock. I'm sure the SVT Focus could run circles around it in a handling contest. I have H&R Coilovers now. So sweet, little pricey, but way worth it.
