I'm happy someone brought this up. Maybe now some people that read this will realize their honda isnt gold and list it at a decent price instead of trying to sell it for an unfair price because their motor counteracts the fact that the body is a rusty pos with 200k miles on it. Just my $.02

i agree and its not just honda or nissan, supras are in the same bunch and evo's and sti's bolt on's dont equal 18k for a 13k evo..period,no matter how many videos it has on youtube, supra's are also like this but their rareity these days has inflated prices also. but age group has less to do with it then amount of money someone makes, upper classes aren't modifing civics, there modifiy bmws, supras, nsx's.etc. 30 year olds are just as guilty as 17 year olds asking 6k for a 2000 dollar civic, i think it is more dependity on there financial spot on the totem pole. if i made 100k a year i would have a sick supra. not a 240.

 

I agree 100% with the OP and others. I also own a Honda. But,I was really flabbergasted when I saw someone selling an early 90s integra 4dr shell for $4500 with no drivetrain and missing its seats. Claiming it was a JDM show car. WTF?! I couldnt believe my eyes. When someone posted its true KBB value the OP went bezerk with his rant saying people were hating. LOL. All in all when you modify ANY vehicle you will never get back what was invested. Thats just the way it is. Some people may not have the same tastes as the seller and I cant fathom the fact of driving around in a "$7-8000" gutted swapped hatch with no ac either. Do you have any idea what else is out there for that kind of money? Even funnier is when they say "JDM civic for sale" and it has every ebay bolt on sitting on a set of roller skate $400 sportmaxes with an asking price of $6-7k. Look,the only thing that makes money when you invest in something is real estate and even that is taking a hit nowadays. BTW, the word "clean" on this site is so abused it aint even funny.

Also the "fad" of selling riced out econoboxes for 4-5 grand is'nt just a TR thing... look around cragslist. And hell it's not just the Honda and Nissan kids, its dumb "urban" people with car that they jack up and throw huge ass rims on. Or more recently some of you might remember the X-Men truck? Loaded with all the cheapest audio equipment that Ebay could provide.

 

Inflating the price a small amount to get back the work, sweat, and effort you put into an SR swap for example, makes sense, as long as its nothing too stupid.

Im glad this thread came up. I was thinking about this earlier while browsing the classifieds, I completely agree with the OP. For some reason people think that they are going to get back what they put into the car, yet people fail to realize that cars are not an investment. (except older cars, etc) I mean is your stock honda/nissan/what the fuck ever you drive realllllly worth that much without p/s and a/c? You know they're right, thats just what I want.... I'd love to spend $5k+ to crank on a steering wheel like the steering rack is seized in 100+ degree heat. (exaggeration). Oh well didnt mean to rant, I just find the mentality of some sellers ridiculous.

yes i understand wanting 4k for a swap in a 240sx, but its not a very hard swap..done it a few times, and 95 percent of the time, they pull either ac or ps, or both....thats a HUGE hit in my book. that tells me you were too lazy to put it all back together the right way, so how do i know the mani is even secured to the block correctly correct TQ specs....get my drift.
