I've heard the C4s are a mechanics dream. Maybe the battery is the exception.

FWD V-anything is going to be the biggest pain, though.

Ive worked on my dads c4 three times now and for the love of god that thing was designed never to be worked on. for one the optispark (which is designed like shit)can not be fully removed without pulling the crank pulley (and the water pump), which because there is a subframe in the way will only fit a ratchet or breaker if you first turn it sideways and then search around for the bolts. To change the seal on the crank you have to pull the hub, which cant be done without either lifting the engine up above said subframe or using a very expensive special puller. You cant access the no.8 spark plug at all unless your directly under the car with it in the air (not saying ANY of them are easy, I had to pull the ASR module to get at 4 of them. One water pump bolt has to be accessed with a swivel that even then STILL doesn't fit straight and has to be played with and fucked with for an hour or so till it comes out, because it is hidden right behind the PS pulley that has a hole in it... that doesnt line up with the bolt. The car is a mix match of metric and standard and its not separated by parts of the car either. There could be a 3/8 right next to a 14mm, and no its not 9/16...

one of the biggest improvements of the new Golf VI is the possibility to change the light bulbs on your own again.

some VWs and Audis were designed by morons....Audi A2 omg what a piece of shit! doesnt even has a real hood

here's mine, flip flop, swap, flop flip, done.

and because the motor is in the front, weight distribution is perfectly fine.

my sister has an 02 325i and every time I work on that thing i love it. everything I have had to do was so freaking easy and so well planned out its not even funny. Although the first oil change took me about 2 hours to find the oil filter . I ended up having to go online to see where it was at.. We had to do 2 of the window regulators and they were pretty simple. A bushing in the front end was worn out, Only thing that sucked about that was that there is a plastic cover thing under the car for aerodynamics which had to come off most of the way.

Edit: changing the first battery took a while too.. who would have thought to look under the trunk matt

My brother changed my hydro steering gear today (http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E3...ower_steering/ Part #1 --> 740 € FFUUUuuuu) so we had to take the underbody off.....and it's always a pain in the ass to mount it back on not one single screw hole stays where it should stay

This too haha my old eg cut my hand up tryin to change the light bulbs... lol

But the American car makers make it so difficult to be worked on so you are more likely to take it back to the dealer to get done where they can charge you for 2 hours of work instead of a normal car that would only take half an hour done yourself lol that's my opinion.
