I want to get an aftermarket intake for my car. But I do not want a cold air. I want the short ram.
My question is...would it be more horsepower efficient to get a short ram that sucks up hot underhood air...or just drop a K&N filter in my stock air box?
I was thinking the OEM design of the air box is to get cooler air into the engine to begin with so it may be more efficient to just get a K&N drop in.
Any advice would be apprietiated.

i think a short ram would be alittle better than just a K&N filter because it still is alot less restrictive i am also thinking of a short ram for use on my car but i want to modify my hood alittle bit for it to give it some extra fresh air

I agree with Tom because all stock airboxs have resonators just like exhaust systems.It would not really matter what brand name you went with either as long as the filter is good.

if this is going in a civic take the resinator box out from under the intake box and use a k&n drop in you will be pulling in more fresh air than a short ram.

dont get a short ram many of the dynos Ive seen show little to no hp increase. If you dont want a cold air intake your best bet it to use a stock air box with resonator removed. Then replace the intake tube with a larger diameter intake tube. You may look into getting an ITR stock air box with the cone filter inside it place it where it can draw in cold air and just use a k&n cone filter with it. Only thing you get with a hot air intake is looks sound and the same time slips. Put a CAI and you get less noise less looks but better time slips.

injen short- rams are known for signifigant HP increases 15 to 18.

HAHHAHAH 15-18 on a short ram for a Honda!That is at least a 10% HP increase.That is impossible you dont even get that power froma CAI maybe half that much.Keep in mind these are claims made from probably a 600 Hp engine that the stock airbox was on then they put the short ram
