Its a better motor than most think it is. Other than the boosted versions it never made big performance numbers, so it doesnt get much attention in the tuner scene. Its pretty stout too, other than the rods. Rods are only good for around 300hp, crank 500 if I remember correct. However, the head, block, main bearing girdle, and oil pan (structural) are good for over 1000 hp.

Mitsubishi. 4g63. Hard to find another bullet proof block that can create that much horsepower from the factory. And its been around forever, so there are parts for it all over the place.
