Please Grand Am and IRL were started by........drum roll please......Bill France...uh the NASCAR guy. Now lets see if he can successfuly divide CART his only real full-time competition NASCAR can dominate the US market. Its happening already major teams are pulling out of CART and running to IRL. This isnt because its a better league to run in its because Fancis money (and advertisers money) is backing the POS IRL.

You are correct this is a business and money pays the bills but speedvision was doing just fine last year when the almighty NASCAR wasnt involved. Look NASCAR is a form of racing and deserves coverage but I have a problem when 4 out of 6 primetime hours are dominated by NASCAR b.s.

As far as your comment about setting up a chassis better from ovals for what every day driving? You cant compare the two???? One does simulates every day driving....the other simulates going down the toilet and yes I use to help a guy out at Sunshine so I have been around both types of racing. I respect oval racers because its racing but it just doesnt interest me.
I was once at a track event at Sebring...probably 4 years ago and guy had one of Rusty Wallaces prior year cars out there. He parked it early in the afternoon because he couldnt get it to turn correctly. The guy had just bought it and it wasnt set-up correctly.

I will tell you that its easier for a roadracer to pick-up ovals than it is for an oval guy to pick-up roadracing. That been proven time and time again. Most recent example is Jimmy Stewart trying out the Ganassi open wheel car in Homestead. First off he was so fat he had to squeeze himself into the car. When they finally got on the track he was 19 seconds behind Kenny Brack.

The reason there is very little passing in F1 is Bernie doesnt handicap the racers like NASCAR does. Oh poor Ford cant get keep up with the Chevys. So what does NASCAR do...takes some wing away and then says that will make it close. Personally I dont mind a race that isnt close. If NASCAR made them keep the wing I would bet a large amount of cash that Ford would come up with the speed real quick. Thats how motorsports evolves.

And yes Speed Channel hasnt been too bad yet. I just hope they remember what made Speed Vision so popular.

Sorry. IRL was started by Tony George who controls the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This was done all on his own. The IRL since then has cooperated to a limited amount with the Frances on track issues since they are both OVAL series. If anything IRL and NASCAR compete against each other in attracting talented young drivers and NASCAR is winning in that respect.

I did not post here to argue with anyone. I merely wished to point out that most of you are arrogantly closed minded when it concerns any kind of racing or car that doesnt meet your misinformed ideals. Still you all will take great offense that many domestic enthusiasts will belittle your attempts to try to force fit econo boxes into what is essentially a sport of muscle cars DRAG RACING.

As far as the uneducated comments go I offer you all my pity if this is the standards youve set for yourselves. There are a few people here that truly have love for the sport and I hope that some of it may rub off on the rest of you.

Peace
