^That's motor dependent, but bouncing off the rev limiter isn't getting you anywhere. Driver mod for drag racing will get you knowing how high you can rev the engine to launch, how much to slip the clutch when launching (if any), how to "pedal" the throttle to keep near the traction threshold, and simple practice will get you shifting faster and at the right time. I've also heard of a trick of pre-loading the shifter before shifting to make it as quick and smooth as possible.

there are those people who you run into once in a while who just seem to be naturally gifted with pedals and a steering wheel, there are many of us who can attest to dj's ability to drive a car, he could get in just about anyones car and out drive them in it. he used to make me so mad. Chuck's m3 was the same situation, and there are several others. It was incredible how quickly he figured out where the car's limits were and how to keep it right on the edge of those limits with little or no time behind the wheel.
