Obama walks in and all of a sudden we have more and more companies and banks being told what they can and cannot do.

Maybe the loop holes will save us from becoming the socialist states of America. The blind and in love voted in a man who is of color ... that's about it. A man who I really believe does not love America.

Here is another fun article that I found and my thoughts on it:

Obama expands government's role in auto industry

"The United States will lead the world in building the next generation of clean cars," he [Obama] said.
The only clean fuel car I know of is by Honda, the FCX Clarity and that is out on the streets of CA and doing well enough that as more hydrogen stations become available so will the car.

So how will the US lead in this? Is there a another car out there by a US manufacturer that is hydrogen?

Also in that article they said the Chevy Volt is too expensive and will fail. Well that car has been touted as the one that will lead the way. And isn't the Tesla already out there and a more affordable version being produced?

You know instead of worrying that a US Manufac will lead the way maybe he needs to court those who are successful to build in this country. Tesla builds in CA. Get Honda to start building the Clarity over here and give money to gas stations to support hydrogen pumps.

Oh wait, that is too simple and doesn't make me more powerful. That can't be the right answer then.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

They kept trucking on down the same ol' path, which is what they have always been known to do. If it wasn't for their diehards they be out of business by now and the diehards are dying off.
Chuck, I suppose you're right....Wagoner should have been forced to step down long ago by the board. I guess I'm more frustrated by Obama's asking him to leave rather than GM's decision to have him leave. Nevertheless, the positive efforts made by GM in the last 5 years to bring about wholesale changes to their passenger car lineup while trying to maintain their hold of truck/SUV sales is not an easy task to juggle. I think GM had done a respectable job at creating some great vehicles, it's just probably just too little too late.
Wagoner should have fronted those efforts years ago.
But, I'm not so sure the new #1 is any better than the last #1.
Time will tell....if there is enough time that is.

I still think the biggest obsticals for GM has been and will continue to be GM's own bean-counters making the final decisions on what and how to build cars, and the general publics' gross misconception that American cars are insignificant compared to the Japanese makes.

gm just needs to run over to honda or toyota and take a few lessons to be honest. The reason I havent owned a chevy or somthing has nothing to do with the looks (Although half of there cars are fucking ugly), its because the inside feels and looks like a cheap piece of shit. I dont think the issue with american cars is a realiability thing, more just a fit and finish. which IMO all boiles down to the price to build the car. in reality i think a cobalt should be a good bit cheaper then an equally equiped civic or corolla. Why? because it just looks and feels like a more generic car. when your paying someone 25 bucks an hour to put the wheels on, i suppose that is what you get

I also agre with mark that I kinda unfarily judged obama at first, I still am not convinced but it really seems hes taking the right steps in alot of areas in my opinion. Asking this tard to step down was one of them

I dont really knw much about GM's Rick Wagoner.. but the other day a cpl of buddy's of mine where talkng about it... If what they were saying is true then im down with what OBAMA is doing.. From what i hear the last check the CEO got from Pres. Bush, what he did with most of it was give it to himself and his fellow partners as Million dollar bonuses here, $900,000k there and so on... so if thats the case then f*ck him (no offence). But, if all his thinkin is about getting and giving out these ridiculous amounts of money as bonuses instead of using it for the company then yea his pretty much fcked.... and i hear obama is askng for that money back too if he doesnt plan to do Bankruptcy..

p.s-funny thing how GM (US car company) is in debt.. and we dont hear honda, hyundai, toyota or none of these other foreign companies complainin... ( kinda shows how we dont knw how to handle our money )
