Default High or Low RPMS

This might be a stupid question but Okay I own a 2008 mazda3 4door 4cyl and I was with my friend in his car and he shifts at like 5rpms I wasnt sure if that is okay for your car or not?

I shift at 3-4rpms.

Just wondering if its okay to do that or if it will hurt the car in the long run.

nah, its fine, but lower RPMs don't put so much stress on everything, and you use less gas to get there

i shift around 3ish generally

I don't see why you would need to rev to 5k during normal driving, but it shouldn't do any harm to the motor.. It might increase wear on the motor a little bit, and it's definitely wasting more gas. I shift right at 3k - 3.5k during normal driving conditions.

I usually shift around 9000 when driving normally. Save more gas that way. I've never seen after 3rd gear, I just use 1st and 2nd.

depending on how low your RPMs are when you're gassing it, you may be putting high load on the engine; which isn't exactly good for it either.

shifting 3-4k is perfectly fine though, and is probably the best range.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

Everything kaluwa said is all you need to hear. That being said, I shift at 2.5K on average and my recorded MPG is 35-36 combined city/hwy on a car that's supposed to get I think 31 HWY.
