I'd keep it under a v8.... Gas prices wont stay low forever. I say rb26. 2xturbo skyline WHAT! if not keep it simple with a sr20 and some boltons

Uhhh.....no, sorry.
R34 GT-R got 14/23 MPG. LS1 Camaro got 18/27. LS1 Corvette got 18/28. 1998 240SX got 22/28 MPG (I don't expect a higher performance SR20 would be any better).
