Typically "bigger is better" is a safe bet but there are some things to consider.

Fat tires add drag so that will reduce mph.

Also if the tires are not matched properly you will get too much oversteer or too much understeer. There can be adjustments made to correct or reduce the o/u steer but if there is too much tire then it will make it difficult if not impossible and you will sacrifice performance in other areas.

And obviously if the tires are so fat they rub then you are asking for big trouble.

They also need to be correctly matched to the rim width. Incorrect tire/rim match reduces the sidewall stability.

Car setup is all about compromises.

Of course there positives to fat tires too, but everyone knows what those are.

nah a good brake pad and some fluid he will be good. He may not be able to outbrake a lot of ppl, but he wont suffer from brake fade.

Yup. Fresh fluid and fresh pads. Definitely.

I would also recommend SS lines for track duty

And some sort of cooling ducts if possible. Aftermarket pads generate more heat and cooler air will help the life of the brakes.

Eh, on a street vehicle you really don't need air ducts, but removing the heat shields helps alot.

CCW has some nice looking rims. Did see any 17's though?

For what you looking for they have some nice looking rims in the size you need. It would be good to have a really strong rim on a car as heavy as yours.

a track duty pad is designed to run at those higher temps, and not fade, i don't think he'll have a problem first time out on an HPDE

They're designed to operate at higher heat levels, but they will still easily overheat on a track. Especially with a car that large.
