anything they say goes.
Regardless of what the Mythbusters say, the A/C compressor creates drag on the engine when the clutch is engaged. To get the best mileage, one would have to roll around with the windows up/cracked and the aircon turned off. Also, one would have to turn off all unnecessary electrical devices as that also creates a load.

But for most folks, just putting the proper amount of air in the tires would do more good than the A/C thing.

Go by what the manufacturer says. Also, 87 octane is your friend.

i have a four door auto 99 dx. I drove it from oh to fl when we moved here last week. I used a/c and 87. its a y7 so of course no vtec. but anyway i got close to 40 mpg. so 27 is pretty bad imo.

This thread makes me miss my 1988 CRX HF. 51 mpg with the a/c on and a driver mod.

How do people live in florida and not drive around with the windows down? Are you afraid to go to the beach aswell for fear of sweating? Everywhere i go my windows are down, and my a/c works great. It might get a little hot sitting at a light but when your moving its perfect.

cruise control wastes gas i've found.

I know its hard to keep your foot steady for 2 1/2 to 3 hrs but ive found it uses less gas.
