MPG increase! OMG I DID IT!!!

Well i wasnt trying to, idk what i did.

I make often trips to miami, and this time i went again.

This is how the story goes.

I filled up the tank, 89 like always

drove to miami from brandon, about 3 1/2 hours, give or take about 250miles give or take. I always made it to miami pretty much on an empty tank, no a/c running, and curise control all the way. going 80mph.

and this recent trip! i made it here to miami with 1/4 of my gas left! lol

these are the only things that i have done to my car since last trip to miami, and im sure they all play a part in the mpg.

new:
valve seals
headgasket
adjust valve clearance its perfect now!
new spark plugs and wires
changed oil (first time i used moblie 1 syntetic)
changed from a y7 manifold to a y8 manifold (better airflow)
got a real short ram dry flow AEM intake
OBX TB spacer
New tires
Brand new exhaust system -
4-2-1 header
2.25in piping
high flow cat
cherry bomb ress.
OBX twin loop muffler
(when doing this i discover old set up had alot alot of exhaust leaks!)

Well just wanted to inform! lol

Oh yea and i was moving all my crap, and my car was packed! i mean ever space was full the car was dropped to the floor! it even felt extra slow and sluggish due to the weight increase. so imagine if my car was at normal weight.

how big is your tank?

edmel89 09-06-2008 02:01 PM

10 gallons

According to : http://www.edmunds.com/used/1996/honda/civic/4256/specs.html, his car has an 11.9 gallon tank.

1/4th of 11.9=2.975

Which leaves us with 8.925 gallons that he used on the recent trip there.

250/8.925=28.005xxxx

Meaning he's getting/got around 28mpg roughly.

thats shitty

Especially for a single cam. But I guess it was packed with shit...

Um riding with the windows down on the highway waste more gas

Southern_SS 09-06-2008 03:20 PM

you would have gotten even better mileage if you would make the drive with windows up and ac on rather than driving with the windows down. it is a proven fact that this is more fuel efficient.
