think before you type. Yes I did fall off the alignment rack as I was trying to put it up there, and theres a permanent dent now so they can all remember me
Its harder to put a small car completely straight on a universal rack like that; even at "completely" straight, my tires would still be over the edge in the middle. That fender damage was from an old lady in a Crown Vic not seeing me as she pulled out into traffic on the way to SCTI...instead of the right lane that was empty, she took the left lane that I was in. I dont lie dude, I have no reason to and its not cool.

What insurance company are you dealing with?
When my Civic was "totalled" for value, i.e. more damage than car value, Progressive cut me check for the vehicle value minus buyback price (in my case, $3600 - $600 + $400 for loss of use of the vehicle). My title was never COD'd or rebuilt. Car had a clean FL title when I sold it after fixing the damage for about $400.
In your case, you should be able to do justabout the same. Problem is, your car already has a rebuilt title. The KBB price doesnt apply, not even the wholesale level. With rebuilt title the value is about half. Your buyback price should be really cheap though (no more than $200). Make sure you get them for loss of use of the vehicle from the day of the accident until they cut you a check, unless they got you a rental for that time. Looks like unless you sue, you will get about $1000 out of it.

Definitly not $1800 worth of damage, but thats in your favor. When you talk to the claim rep next, tell them that you ARE keeping the car and fixing it yourself. They cannot force you to give them the car. They will give you the "totaled" value ($1100) minus the buyback value. Tell them that you want to be compensated for "loss of use of the vehicle" from the the day of accident until they cut the check ($15-$35 per day). Depending on what the buyback value is, the should cut you a check for about $1000-$1100. Then you can fix it however you want.
