I thought I would give my little experience with parking lots..
First, my friend was pulled over by a cop for running a stop sign in a Publix parking lot and I was in the backseat with a couple of girls(drunk). He doesn't ticket my friend but instead decides to give him a nice long lecture. About the time he gets to the part where "none of us would like to go with him on a shift and see all the dead bodies he see's" ... I called his bluff .. and started laughing at him (I was REALLY drunk) (and underage). Not a good idea; he threatened to pull me out of the car but I shut my mouth and we eventually went on our way.

The second time was suprisingly when I totalled my car in a parking lot. Go ahead and let that sink in. Anyways, I wasn't doing anything stupid in a parking lot, it just so happened that I was going really fucking fast on Dale Mabry, almost missed my turn onto a private road, *let just say I made a critical driver error here* and also hit a patch of gravel on the road. I skid off the side and hit a pole.
So when the state trooper (asshole) shows up, he is trying to find something to ticket me for. He couldn't find any skid marks for wreckless driving (gravel), the utility box I destroyed on the pole was owned by Publix, but I knew the manager so I went and "talked" to him and "paid" him for the damages. PLUS, I was on private property so he couldn't ticket me for hitting the pole.

In conclusion, my experience tells me that they can't do a damn thing on private property. Good luck with your ticket!

Again, totalling your car isn't a crime. Its a traffic infraction. Street racing is a crime.

 

you don't even have to be speeding. They tried to get me a a buddy for street racing because we were next to each other in "those kind of cars"


i say get a lawyer and get it thrown out.
And if not thown out, get it reduced to something dumb like careless driving, take the points and learn the lesson.

I got pulled over for drifting my fwd with trays under the back wheels. Cop pulls me over, I told him it's really really fun. Let the cop drive 2-laps around the parking lot and he let me go. He said it wasn't that much fun though.

The cop can give you a ticket on private property if the owner of the property gives them permission to enforce the law on there property.
