The manager doesn't say anything. He only comes out when someone is double parked or blocking someone or something. As long as people are in parking spots and buying something he doesn't bother anyone.

This hardcore cop on the other hand just shows up, parks his car, gets out and kicks everyone out. As soon as he see's that everyone is leaving... he leaves. But I heard he comes back.

He says, "If your not buying anything... you need to leave NOW". So if you bought something already and have it in your hand he does not care.

But yeah park your car, order food and sit there at one of the tables. I'm almost positive he'll tell you to leave. Not knowing if your part of the group or not. He see's anyone ranging from 15-30 something yrs old he will kick you out. Now if your some old guy or old woman he won't say anything to you. Atleast I hope not.

 

well, me and whitefwdsm have been getting there early before any kind of crowd is there. i'll go talk to the manager and see what they say. if they say its cool and the same cop trys the same stuff, i'll sit there sipping my drink and cheiwng on a cheese stick.

 

I am down for some sonic and showing cops that we aren't there for bad intentions. Just there to hang out meet people and have some fun doing are "hobby" as I like to call it.

 

It all comes down to the bottom line. While some folks might be spending money on a meal, many others are just buying a coke and even more aren't buying anything at all. And after everybody leaves the lot and area needs to be cleaned.

If 500 people each spent $10 from 10-12 (or whenever you guys are there), Sonics would be running the cops out, not the "customers."

 

these types of establishments have been around since the 50's. that's the whole point of the way they are designed. they promote "hanging out". they want people to feel like they can gather there and have some good food, and a good time. then when passersby see the crowd and everyone having fun, they're more inclined to stop too and.... spend money.

i can see the cops' point of view, but i still think that kicking everyone out is a bit... over the top. if you're not there causing a scene, then i don't see what's wrong with sitting there and bullshitting with your friends. when i used to live there, it was the same way... sort of. the cops would kick us out of the surrounding parking lot (gandy location), but not the sonic itself. it's the same way at gas stations. they don't care if you're a paying customer, weather it be a pack of gum, soft drink, or $50 for a full tank of gas... they feel the need to break up the group. if there is no group, it's harder to plan races.

cliffs: it sucks, but there is really not a whole lot you can do. if you want to start shit with the cops, you run the risk of being arrested for disorderly conduct.

 

as it was stated earlier, there is a cop that sits in the gas station parking lot all night while the meet is going on. how come he or she doesnt do anything?

 

Sonics has maybe 2 cars in the lot everytime I get there... so they aren't making much business that night till everyone shows up. Not to mention you maybe see 3-5 people ordering through the drive-thru. So I don't think that's the case. Because the manager comes up when he has a problem and tells which people he needs to relate the message to. 500 people cannot fit in Sonics even if you tried. BTW, the lot is pretty clean when we get kicked out since we have to take our "SONICS" food and drinks with us. I do have the common courtesy to walk over to the trash can and throw away my garbage. Just like any other fast food joint they get small orders and big orders.

I bet if none of us would show up at that Sonics they'll be lucky enough to have 10-20 people order food for the whole night. Because its pretty dead when I get there and this is 8:30-9:00.

 

Also as stated before in this thread... cops come into Sonics while everyone is there. They just roll through to make you think "hey were here, don't do anything stupid". But we've never gotten kicked out by them. At one time 3-5 went into the gas station and 2 were lined up outside of Sonics. Just watching making sure we don't do anything stupid. This anal cop twice already has showed up and kicked us out and we weren't doing anything wrong. Besides that there's an undercover cop that sits in the gas station next door watching us the whole time. So you have to be plain retarded to try to do anything stupid.

I go to Sonics and to hang out with my friends and eat dinner with my wife. That's my only intentions. But when we get kicked out especially at 9:58pm on a Saturday... where would you go? The only spots everyone knows... the street racing spots. If they leave us alone at Sonics and watch over us... by the time its around 12 or so I'm on my way back home.

This cop stirs up more trouble kicking us out then leaving us alone and just sitting back and watching us. It's a perfect environment and a safe one... this "1" cop doesn't see it that way.
