With a user name like yours, you should understand. Early '90s Miata weighs less than 2200lbs. Add an SR20DET and you certainly do not have a gay car. With a car that small you need to be careful with a high output engine. One mistake and it will eject you like a poptart.

its cool dude...power2weight also questioned why someone would put an ls1 in a civic (the whole drivetrain)

SR20s dont belong in Miatas. Keep your trendy JDM drift craze away.

I also dont concider SR20s to be "high output" engines. Last I heard, a guy at work has a standalone'd SR and still only makes 300 HP

He sure as hell better. He's had it for a while, has all sorts of upgrades like turbo and such, IIRC an S14 engine, etc. etc. He used to work at Audi as a Tech and he didnt make piss poor, lets just say that. Even in the summer at BMW where there is no work here, he still makes fairly decent change I'm sure...he really should be making more than that on like 18 psi

Cheers guys, yeah alot of people say there gay but alot of them have never driven one, especially one with 300bhp! Ive had a few cars and these are one the most fun and easiest to drive. Rotary was an option but there expensive and i can't be arsed with all the grief you get with them. At the end of the day i just want cheap fun!

Well, there are multiple 300+ HP SR's around here, mine will be one of them once I get a tune, and there is even someone (posted once in this thread already) that has a 540+HP SR so you can call it whatever you want, but it is a great combo with a miata no matter how you look at it.

As for the JDM drift craze, you may want to do a little "hotrod" research, people have been putting engines from different makes into their cars for decades now!!
