Take the $3200 you get from insurance for the OEM seats.
Buddy Club seats with S2000 rails $1000 for both. Then take the $2200 and get a hardtop. Add a little extra and you could get some Bride reclinables or Recaros.
Then slam the car and ride out!!

Apparently it costs a lot more than that. His insurance company isn't cutting him a check, they are filing all of the work at a dealership. With parts, hardware, and labor; the insurance company will be eating ~$9500. He even asked about a hardtop, it would have cost him $3100 more out of his pocket...

Buy some custom shear bolts. Kinda like the ones that hold in the ignition key locks on most honda's. It would make taking the seats out a couple hour affair. Or run some strange bolts. VW's and euro cars in general have alot of weird star sockets and stuff like that. A good combo of those would make it pretty hard to steal the seats.
