Yeah. I know that 242 HP was too high based off of more than 20% drivetrain loss on a chassis dyno IIRC.

I just need an article on it for class.

 

Ive seen a Winston cup car lose 8%, and a stock 1977 Vette put down 89 hp to the wheels, it was rated at 170 crank, but it outran an 81 or so Turbo 911

John would probably know best, i thought he had a couple RX8 owners dyno at SS and made exceptionally pitiful numbers, like high 160's if i remember correctly.

not sure if this will be usefull at all but, i have a client who pre-ordered his and has kept in great shape since then. but about 6 months ago he noticed it was loosing power and was just running like crap, so he went to mazda and they looked at it and told him there was seal or gasket that went bad and could not be fixed, so 2 days later he went there and he got brand new motor. they also told him that people with the same problem are all getting new motors. and he had only about 60k on it and now it almost new again.

 

Yeah the renisis motor chews thru apex seals more than the old 13b, somthing having to do with the placement of the ports or somthing.

 

Thanks dude, I did alot of searching, even on RX8 forums short of joining them, and couldnt find anything about it.

The rest of the info in this thread was pretty interesting. How dismal the Vette's numbers were, 8% being incredibly efficient, and how not unlike so many rotarys of Mazda's past, free factory installed replacement engines which jab unfortunately at those fans and owners that own it.

well alot of mazda is owned by ford, so you can probably guess why their marketing schemes suck.
