i've been reading this thread to see what people had to say, and although troux makes some very good points (as do alot of others) i don't agree with everything. i don't go to gandy or CCC cause i choose not too. what other people do is up to them. but when i read this post i was like WTF !!!!!
how can you say it was an "unavoidable" accident ?????? thats just rediculous !!!
the driver of the civic was DRUNK !!!! crashed and his passenger drunk or not got out and walked across the road on the downside of a bridge. ending up with 2 young people dead.... this was a VERY AVOIDABLE accident....
sorry, just how i feel.

Honestly whos to say nothing will happen before/after/during a TR event. Theres still a chance no differently than theres a chance of being in an accident everytime you step into your car. Does that mean you shouldnt drive?? So whats the difference between a meet at causeway and one of these other meets, Id say most of the same people are going to be at them. The same crap will happen when they get to big. So dont go getting all high and mighty about lumping everyone that is out there together, cause your no different than us.

i've been to gandy twice...ever and ccc once just driving through at night. i went to see what it was all about and it was lame, so i didn't go back. it's not my scene anyway. but i can't see it changing. it's always going to be going on. if not there somewhere else.

I used to be a Gandy/Causway Troll, um, lets say, 8 years ago. I was a fool and lucky that I never got hurt or caught.
I have seen my share of accidents and people arrested.
This has been a problem that dates back to the 50's, right there in the same spot.
Now that I look back and try to understand WHY I did all of that, i find it hard to come to a logical conclusion that made sense other than I was stupid.
I am now a true supporter of "taking it to the track" whether it's for drag/drift or whatever.
It MAY seem "cheaper" to street race, but talk to anyone that has been busted, crashed or better yet go to the cemetary and look at the grave markings that say " here lies the baddest mofo ever to street race"...
It is WAY more costly when you have a criminal record, vehicle impounded ect....

Is there anyway to turn this thread into something positive?!
Just tossing this out to all the people that say, "Take it to the track".
1. Its at least an hour or more away from a lot of people.
2. Costs money to just get in and "hang out".
3. Its difficult to line up with the people you want.

Well bro Its the smart thing to do.Love your FD in all but those 3 statements couldnt have been any dumber. So you dont have the money to go to a track? You insist on risking your life and the lives of others because you cant drive 45mins to bradenton or even clearwaters 1/8th mile track. Ofcourse its going to cost some money to go to a track,it pays for the upkeep of a well maintained track surface to be safe and competive for all racers and its very possible to line up with people you want to race against.just speak up and let someone know that your would like to race your friend or that certain car. I would just like to see some of you think before you post.

Hmmm, I should have clarified that those are things I don't complain about, but have heard others complain about.
I really don't have much of an interesting in drag racing...and I have NO interest in these "organized" street racing scenes.
Leaving this thread now.....
