So a 2005 V6 Mustang runs a 15.3, and gets to 60 in 6.9 (C&D, Feb '05), and everyone says it's slow, and it's stupid to try to mod it, etc. but everyone in Honda deamland thinks a Civic Si (15.1 1/4 and 7.2 0-60 for the '06, worse for older years) is so amazingly fast and quick and it's the 4 cylinder that will embarass V8s? The all-mighty Type R (14.7, 6.5 for a '97)barely beats the V6 Mustang, but still, the ITR is the flagship of the Honda fanboys, who still pay 15K for them, only to be paced by a V6 Mustang.

Regardless of aftermarket support, there's much more potential to be had from the 4L V6 that produces more torque than HP, than from a FWD 4-banger. I could agree that the V6 Mustangs are slow, but first the entire Honda FWD community needs to cut its losses, abort all attempts at being fast, and apologize for wasting gas.

Thats exactly what I was saying.

Corey, There is a huge demand for mustang parts. I think the difference here is civics are targeted by the younger crowd. And that tends to draw theft.

you're right, the stock ITR runs a 14.7, with 200HP. but people have got alot better times than that with DR's i/h/e. mark as well said that he ran a 14.6 in a stock GSR, which is 170HP. anway, the ITR motor in a hatch or CRX is completely different. just like people dropping new cobra motors in old lightweight fox's. im sure you have been to the track and seen the potential of any given car. sure the v6 stang has more potential, but its not going to beat a honda with the same power output.

your response surprises me, given my sig quote. i am not trying to say my car or honda is better than any other car, im just trying to say it isnt as bad as people think. to each their own. i love all fast cars, no matter the make or model. and if i had jay leno's money, id have a diversified garage just like him, not just all domestics like most of you guys would probably have. there isnt just one type of auto sport, there are many, and domestics dont reign supreme in all of them. seems like most of you guys only have drag racing in your mind.

I'm going to bet Jay Leno doesn't have any riced out Hondas in his inventory...maybe he has an NSX, maybe even an S2000, but thats probably about it.

And I'm willing to pit any factory import you have against the new ZO6 on any type of race you'd like. Remember this important tidbit. Jap cars have small motors because theres a 'displacement tax' over in Jap land. Thats the only reason - everything else is just a biproduct of that.

he does have a riced out fiero, but it has the balls to back it up. he also has a honda electric car and a hybrid. someone even posted a video on TR where is talking about how impressed he is with honda's hybrid motor. he has old/new/import/domestic/exotic, and motorcyles out the ass from everyplace as well. all im saying is that you guys are closed minded, saying a certain make is a pile of shit, even when that make has beaten many records in auto racing. but we are in america where we dont have first hand access to these types of races. take for instance the NSX, sure you may think its a pile of shit, but it has beaten many track records in its time. i never knew that either until someone let me barrow a video on the history of that car. even the civic is used widely in auto racing overseas.

and yes, i agree the z06 is the fastest factory car, and is a great deal for the price. the only other place you can find as fast a car is exotics that cost well over the price of a vette.
