this is gunna get heated!!
The difference is everyone and their brother has modified a Honda. Neons are a different story. Making a sleeper, or making any slow car into something fast and unique is interesting because it's different. Modifying Hondas is anything but different. It just looks dumb when every Honda owner out there thinks their standard-issue bolt-ons make their car so fast and amazing and "custom." It's been proven it takes a buttload of money to make them fast, and it's still an economy car, so it's not a proper race car, no matter how far you take it.
There are plenty of people out there who have been down the same sort of road; they modded from paycheck to paycheck trying to make (one of their) first cars fast, then later realize it was a waste of time and money.
I don't know why most people bother with Hondas. This of course doesn't apply to S200s and NSX's, which are sports cars.

You may want to double check your block, right next to where the tranny meets up with the motor on the I.D. pad. B-series = DOHC and I may be wrong but every B-series I know of is EFI. If it is a B-series then someone stole your other cam and did a downgrade on your intake system.
come out to the riverview meet on thursday and i'll show you

I'm not doubting what you have in the car is a sohc carb, I think somebody somewhere did some stuff to the motor.... http://www.phearable.net/tech/wiring/enginecodes.html
B20A5 DOHC 90-91 prelude SI. carb motors left honda in 87 on the base model crx, after that the 88 base model was DPI where the Si was MPI. By 90 DPI was gone, and this is on the crx...the throw away of honda, so you know the lude was gonna have better stuff on it being as it was honda's top car. I'm not saying it's impossible, given the stuff I've seen on the jdm side of honda, but if you have a sohc carb'd LUDE then honda owes you, because even the rex's had efi sohc or dohc. If you have owned this car since it came of the showroom floor then there is no room for doubt, otherwise a B20A5 came on the Si and someone did a head swap on that thing for a cheap fix in the past.
my dad bought it second owner a year old, but here, read 7, 8, 12, 14, 17, and 19, this is all 3rd gen forum, stock motors
i'll show you my Chilton manual too, dude, i promise its 100%OE engine wise

That's just wild, It blows away hondas coding system from that time frame. It would be like having a B18 that was a 1.6ltr, or an h-series that was less than 2.0ltrs. Honda has just slipped a notch on reliability, can't rely on them to stick to thier own rules.....what's this world coming to, damn japs
That's still totally screwy though. The top of the line car from a manufacturer having a shitier motor than the disposable car from the same manufacturer. That would be like having a Corvette, with a geo metro carb'd 3 banger.
perhaps they came in different trim? like the foxbodies?

I say it's time for an h22 swap out.....should bolt in easy. Hondata, boost, traction, 8psi should get you about 330hp.
H22 is on the way, buying mounts in the next few weeks, then get to play with wiring from carb to EFI, lots o fun
but i'll leave this stock as the nice daily, and i never knew it, but my car waeighs the same as an EG hatch
