Can your car ever truly be fast enough?

Ah, autocross and road racing are a different animal. I still manage to have a lot of fun on back roads even in my POS, and I'm sure I'll have even more fun when I get it track-worthy and take it out to autocross events. To some extent you don't really need power for racing with corners, look at the old NA RX-7s and little FWD shitboxes running at Sebring SCCA races and Miatas dominating auto-x. I'm just talking about raw straight-line power, acceleration, speed.

yeah, my car is too slow for straight line, but seeing the mustang guys i hang out with, no, its never enough, its always, "this is it, i'm done" and then i hear about a great deal on a part or something, and then it becomes, like you said, unstreetable, and they want to buy a daily and leave it 100% stock...and that doesn't last long

i don't think there can ever really be enough, but there can certainly be too little

See signature - and going fast in a straight line is one element, then there is turning, and then there is braking - put em all together and you might have something.... You want straight line speed - be a carrier pilot.

I think a car is to fast if it scares you to put the pedal down.

Isnt the point of racing Progression? For the people who dont actuly build their cars themselves but instead send them to a shop to do all the work, i would think it might not be as fun, because you dont get as much enjoyment out of being able to go fast in something you built yourself.

But i can see how after awhile straigt lines can get a little boring unless your in a Competition and its down to tenths of a second to win.
