Well...do I really need to bring into discussion my teacher's experience again?

I guarentee you theres at least SOMEONE else on this board who knows who "Javier Brito" is...he's written a few of the ASE tests (been on the board of members who did), one of 2 or so people in the world to have each and every one of them, the youngest person in the world to have the certifications (at 12 I think he said), he's worked for GM as engineer (as well as Toyota for a bit and did some R&D for Mercedes turbos and diesel in the U.S.) and knows every GM car up until the mid 90s through and through, and any car after that he has a strong understanding of. SCTI has been in the top 10 for SkillsUSA competitions for the 6 years or so he's been able to enter his students, always having first in the region and always going to states (yes, I was one of the top people in the region and went to states up in PTEC this past year). He's been there, done that with everything and anything... literally been into cars since kindergarten where he'd skip school sometimes to go hang out in a local shop. I guarentee you theres not a single soul in UTI, MTI, WyoTech, or any one of those schools who has as much experience hands on as him. Currently we have a 70s Maserati Indy at school (google it), which is a local guy in Sarasota's who imported it from Italy...supposedly only two of these in the states. Its at our school not for us to touch and learn on, but because he's one of the few people who'd know how to make it work again and is in the process of doing so. He's the most realistic person out there...Dodge was going to donate a Viper to our school, but he turned it down because he knew all it would do is cause a rucus and realistically, we're not going to work on a Viper often...so we have currently inside the shop (not just altogether) a Corvette, a Vibe, a CTS, and a Civic, because realistically thats what you'll see in shops, random cars like that.

Okay, I'm off his nuts now. He's not the only automotive teacher who knows what he's doing at SCTI either, so surely the local community college type courses wont be far off what you'd actually be seeing, getting the same knowledge for far less. Yeah WyoTech and UTI advertise that you'll get a job at some name brand dealership, but guess what? They all are short on techs! I'm 17 and I've been working at BMW for a good 8-going-on-9 monthes now..

It all depends on how much you will actually be willing to learn and what you make of it all. No we dont have expencive alignment machines at SCTI, no we dont have machining tools, we dont have the most advanced tire balancer or mounter etc., but we did just get a brand new set of Snap-On tools for everyone to use and all of our stuff is new or in superb condition.

Well, unfortunately biased opinions dont win arguments, so we are in a no-win situation.

I dont even think this kid is paying attention any more, so it really doesnt matter.

UTI has schools all over the US and is affiliated with a lot of MAJOR car manufactures. Dude, do some research.

In your case, I suggest going down to jiffy lube and fill out an application and pray they hire you.
