Actually I think we are talking about potentially avoiding an accident...

When you factor in reaction times and stopping distances - if you have a light weight car with performance tires - and the dude up your ass has a SUV with 90,000 wear shoes - chances are - you will stop much quicker than they will.

This is what happend to my first 911 - a yellow cab KO'd it from either following to close or going to fast - not sure which...

And Chuck - if I have open road - and somebody comes up on me - I'll be happy to pull over so they can be my "rabbit" but if we are in solid traffic - and no room for progress - and they get up my ass - they are getting the check...

I like to get people that are driving like assholes, weaving through traffic, thinking they're fast and furious. I brake check them, block them from passing, etc. Some people need to learn some patience and consideration.

My point was, due to no witnesses on my part... The guy in front of me who caused the accident told the officer that I smashed into him, which then pushed him into the other guy. I got blamed for BOTH wrecks.

Wrecks happen so fast its very rare to find a credible witness that actually saw the wreck.

My point: If someone brake checks you, and you don't have some sort of law enforcement see him doing it. Its gonna be your fault. Is this REALLY that hard to understand? My god. And if your tailgating someone and they do brake check you bad enough for you to wreck and hit them, you deserve it IMHO.

I only brake check if A) the firearm is in the car and B) the cell phone is charged

I did it once and neither A nor B were in check. The dude runs me off the road (mirage vs. Ford Expidition goes 60 in a 45) then slows and blocks so i cant get past, takes up two lanes, hops out and tries to pull me out of the car. I had to get up on the sidewalk, he proceeded to chase me to my neighborhood (I didn't pull into my house since I didn't want this nutcase knowing where I lived) and he turned around and left. If I would have been in the suby I would have launched AWD style and then seen him to the hospital. However the mirage is just toooo slow. And along with B I would have been hesitant to meet him with force since I didn't know for sure if he had a gun. Any nutbag who's going to stop traffic, take up 2 lanes after running me off the road, try to pull me out of the car and tehn follow me to my neighborhood is probably unstable enough to have done just that.

This is a prime example of why I don't brake check. Getting hit won't make you rich. All that you get is enough to fix the damage. Meanwhile, you have to drive around with a smashed ass rear end and part with your car for a while when you finally get it fixed. The way I see it, not only does getting rear ended not make you rich, it actually costs you money due to your insurance premiums going up(news flash, they go up even if you're not at fault). Not to mention the hassle that comes with dealing with any matter of the law.

Oh, and if you rear end someone, it doesn't matter if they brake checked. All they have to say is that a squirrel ran out in front of them. Even with witnesses, there is no way to prove them wrong. Just because an impartial driver will testify that he didn't see anything, doesn't prove it didn't happen.

Judging my the car I drive I could probably have a tractor trailer rear end me and push me into a tractor trailer in front of me and still walk away

But I'm not gonna try it, I like my car...

i didnt brake check that guy that hit me, i was actually pulling into my community and had to stop short. the guy just happened to be riding my ass when i was pulling in. and my bumper isnt wrecked, he just clipped me, only scrapes, and it had a few dings and a small misalignment so its making my situation better. PLUS, my car is registered and insured in new hampshire. sooo i have awesome insurance that doesnt fuck me over like florida. plus my rates are much lower. so my situation is pretty golden right now.

It doesn't make you rich, but it can easily net you a little if you play your cards right. When I say sue, I don't mean for 5 million dollars... hah.

The guy that was hit by the guy I hit was going to sue me for a few k that my insurance would have covered but he decided not to go through with it.

So to "fix" the guy riding my tail, does it make sense for me to
use *my* car to do so?

For everyone who might be willing to sue someone who hit
them in the rear while their brakes were crammed on unexpectedly,
there may just be someone willing to not only hit the car in front,
but to "Earnhart" him into the rail........ -Bob
