I'm gonna have to agree about the whole import killing the street racing thing. I think it's more like imports were a way for non car people to feel cool and act like street racers. part of acting is going out. Since none of them are car people to begin with and just threw themselves into the "scene" they kinda decided to act like assholes.

In short I don't think of them as car people at all. I'm not taking a side here I'm just being observant. Eneryone I know with a fast car is pretty quiet about it.

I'm not quiet. I suppose that's because my car is slow haha.

Back when fox bodies started getting really big , THEY were the ones doing burnouts acting stupid , drinking in the parking lot etc. Shit has been going on forever , Ignorant people killed street racing , not imports.

Imports did not kill street racing... people killed street racing by over doing it. Back in the day before F&F and all that crap, I would go to the street races in New York... during the day... and cops would show up and watch or race as well. They didn't bother since it was a road barely anyone uses and no one was being stupid. Now that road has been torn up, due to people dying and being dumb. Back then it was well organized and it was fun... now-a-days most people think they are the shit and their car is the shit, they run their mouths and do suicide racing (meaning there's cars up ahead and you do anything just to stay ahead... "ie: going on the sidewalk, grass, median, etc." instead of slowing down and calling it quits.) This is why innocent people get killed, over stupidity... if your not racing for money and just racing for fun why risk your life and others? I never understood this... I'll admit I've raced plenty of people on the street but I back down as soon as the conditions change... "ie: weather, too many people, too many cars, etc." Like I said people are what killed street racing, the way people drive now is what killed it... back in the day each person stayed in one lane, now-a-days its cutting into lanes and acting reckless. So I say individuals and their driving killed street racing, not why type of car you drive.
