They didn't bother since it was a road barely anyone uses and no one was being stupid. Now that road has been torn up, due to people dying and being dumb. Back then it was well organized and it was fun... now-a-days most people think they are the shit and their car is the shit, they run their mouths and do suicide racing (meaning there's cars up ahead and you do anything just to stay ahead... "ie: going on the sidewalk, grass, median, etc." instead of slowing down and calling it quits.) This is why innocent people get killed, over stupidity... if your not racing for money and just racing for fun why risk your life and others? I never understood this... I'll admit I've raced plenty of people on the street but I back down as soon as the conditions change... "ie: weather, too many people, too many cars, etc." Like I said people are what killed street racing, the way people drive now is what killed it... back in the day each person stayed in one lane, now-a-days its cutting into lanes and acting reckless. So I say individuals and their driving killed street racing, not why type of car you drive.
If you believe that theory, more power to you. The movie killed street racing. Little kids with their moms camry staying out late doing stupid shit. All the crashes that I can remember on Gandy bridge were imports. I'm sure they were young. With imports comes young drivers, that's a fact. Young = lack of experience. -Mark

I already said this and I completely agree. Unfortunately, 95% of the individuals that killed street racing happened to kill it driving imports.

THis thread is funny - everyone is arguing opinions excluding the clutch/brake arguents no one is actually brining hard facts to the table about either car as a whole...

Heres my asshole, err I mean opinion:

Imports engines have more parts, are more efficient, and can put out more power per liter. No one can deny it.

Domestics engines have less parts, bigger engines, and last longer. the Less parts the less to break - yeah everyone will argue that a honda will drive to 250k etc but ONE part breaks that car is down for the count. GM engines just let more shit break before they die.

Import cars reflect their market - Stylish, Sleek, built for function and expession.

Domestic cars reflect their market - Brawny, Bold, built to say they are American.

But ill say it once I'll say it again, when's the last time you saw a fart can on a domestic?

Exactly. And now anyone who chooses an import faces the same ridicule from folks with domestics, regardless of that person's asshole-index. That means assholes in imports ruined it for everyone who drives anything.

All I can hope is eventually the non-asshole community will congeal, regardless of make, and the stigma will dissolve.

Lol I find it funny that people blame imports ruining street racing because of the F&F movies. But you can't say all young people drive imports and act stupid in them. I've seen plenty of "kids" in high school with their domestic vehicles thinking their the shit with some useless big engine underneath the hood inorder to carry the weight of the car... and also doing burn outs, donuts, all that stupid shit. I saw a Mustang racing on HWY 50 in Orlando and ended up under a semi... so not only do imports crash so do domestics. The only reason I see for imports crashing more is that there's more of us out there racing in an import. Don't see to many domestics racing... atleast I haven't. Before F&F there was plenty of imports racing out there... the movie brought out wannabe's from all ages doing stupid shit.
