Break this whole thread down? You were speeding (yes that would be breaking a FL law) you got cut a break (the 90 in a 65 instead of 90 in a 55) You admitted to doing 25 over the limit. he wrote you a ticket for doing 25 over the limit.



If it were me in the same situation, I wouldnt fight a ticket that I got cut a break on. But it's not me. Take it for what it's worth I guess.

 

Yeah I just know I wasn't going 90 and I don't think the way he got my speed is fair, he wasn't next to me for 2/10's of a mile, he was only there for a few seconds.

I don't know if it's still in effect, but the law that makes cops exempt from traffic laws, states that they can only break the traffic laws while their emergency equipment is on ( lights and/or siren). Which means that if he was pacing you with his lights and siren off then he was speeding and not exempt from traffic laws. so how is he going to tell you not to speed while he is doing it??? like I said, I don't know if this is still in effect but it was several years ago and I can't see a reason to change it. just something to look up.

I talked to a lawyer who used to know him. Appearently he doesn't know shit, and wasn't making it as a real lawyer, so he started that stupid ass line.

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FIGHT. For shits and giggles id like to sit in on your court just to laugh when the judge fines you more for the ticket.

 

Do you have some sort of motivation for spewing out a shitstorm of misleading and oftentimes wrong (I.E. your quote of Virginia's driving laws and then your weak rebuttel when you were called on it) information, or is it just your natural bahavior?

The cop has no way to prove your exact speed. There have been instances where the case is thrown out, and then there have been instances where the cop pipes up and says, "Well, it was more like 10 over what I said. I was just cutting him a break", and there have been instances where the judge decides that the ticket is fine as-is and charges you it + court fees. Its gonna depend on your prior driving record (big one), how you handled yourself with the cop, who the judge is and what kind of mood they're in, and how good your defense it. Its a gamble to say the least, but its FAR from impossible.

Oh, for the record, Cryptic, I'd like to see you in the court room laughing also, because then you coudl be held in contempt and taken away by the guards when you pissed the judge off and incarcirated. That would be hilarious!
