My friend, you are bench racing now, remember that... and dreaming. Viper viper now has 510 HP and 535TQ at engine. hmmm, and weights 200lbs more. The viper is a VERY hard car to drive to it's potential.

No New vette will "wax" a viper if alone beat it. Remember GenII's were running 11.6 at 121 by MT.... c'mon man, it's the SAME 'OL GM HYPE every damn year for the vettes...

Will the vette hit 11's ? Yes, absolutley. Will they get better times? perhaps yes as there are MANY MANY MANY more Vettes that drag more than SRT10's... FACT. Get the SRT's in drivers hands and they will pull mid 11's at 123-124 STOCK. It's already happend.

Will a vette "wax" a viper? Yes It will, with Zaino and detailer in the pits after it looses..

Nice cars gerald. What's the 98 run? There is a local in orlando with a black turbo viper the same style as your 98. Now sure if you know him, traps about mid 130s. What about yours(not sure if you already said it and I missed it).

TT's are nice, but I love my S/C. 50k miles on it and runs like a dream!
Me, personally, I run 139 traps but I'm not a good drag racer and that's with a wing and full stereo gear in the rear. I would say with the right driver I don't see why it coudn't trap low to mid 140's...
BTW , I got those times on STREET TIRES

Hype?

The C5-C6 vettes have been respected by the entire industry, and car enthusiasts alike. One of the few cars that actually gets hype and lives up to it.

Im with Chuck on this, it sounds like this will be a drivers race, and IMO both are exceptional automobiles I'd love to own. But my preference would be the Vette.

I agree that the newer Vettes are terrific cars. My "hype" comment is in reference to a lot of what is said and written. Take a look at this thread and the earlier comment about the Z06 running low 11s. Somewhere somebody got that idea and those kinds of comments are all over the internet, even in print in "respectable" publications. But anybody with any experience at all knows how far-fetched those numbers are. That's what I call hype. And no car gets more of it than a Vette.

Regardless, the C5 Z06 was a formidable track foe and the new Z06 is going to leave my 97 GTS in the dust. I think it's time for an upgrade....
