The Spec V is a very nice handler. I watched a young couple co drive one together at an auto-x and I believe all they had was Azenis on it, and they set down some impressive times, even the girl was only a 2nd or two behind her man.

Corolla.. I mean, it is what it is. I'm not knocking it, but the SE-R is going to offer you a whole nother level of driving experience. You have to decide whether you want to drive a car that feels like a rental car, or a car that feels sharp and ballzy.

I know I sound like a maniac, but I'm only pointing out facts. I don't know why anyone would buy a corolla over a specV, unless they just don't want the performance. Before I mentioned it, he wasn't even considering the SE-R. Now most of you guys say the SE-R would be your choice. I should be getting commission!
I would take the corolla over the nissan if what I wanted was a nice daily driver that got good gas milage and was known to be very reliable.
I bought my wife a Matrix XR a few years ago for that same reason.
The car is roomy for its size.
Gets great gas milage(30-32mpg)
And I have never had to spend a dime on it.

here's a review on speedoptions.com pitting the SE-R, XRS, rallifart, and foci ST. Maybe this will further help you with your decision before purchase.

furthermore, here is sport compact cars article where the ralliart (winner of above article) is tested against the spec V.

I would get the Corolla for a daily driver. Reasons being, the corolla is a great realiable platform that will last a long long time. Also with it being less power than the Spec V you will be less likely to try to race someone at the stoplight. Plus im sure the insurance is cheaper. Just put some springs and wheels on the corolla and it should be a nice daily.

Ok, my opinion is to go with the Spec-V. Every single cute girl at USF drives a Corolla. Meaning...It's a girls car. It really is. I drove a Corolla S last weekend. (It was a girls car that goes to USF
) and they just feel shitty, and cheap, and ride so high, and are slower than shit. Go with the Spec-V man between the Corolla and the Spec-V.
I also drove a SRT-4 like 2 weeks ago, with just an open down pipe, and that shit was very impressive. I used to hate them, until I drove one. The pull is alright on those cars. Put it this way, it was better than I had expected anyway. Way better.
Instead of everyone's opinion. Go out, drive the SRT-4/SPEC-V/Corolla XRS. Base your opinion on first hand driving. Actually TEST drive the car, take some corners, punch it on a straight away, rip the gears. Take the car to it's limits. I bet you'll buy the SRT-4 after test driving all of them. Watch! Let us know what you end up buying.
$20,000=SRT-4>Spec-V>Corolla XRS
