is it worth selling a car to carmax?
My husband works for Carmax even he says that sometimes its better to just try private party and if all else fails then try Carmax. Depends on car I suppose. But still whats a 30 minute appraisal? You have nothing to lose besides maybe at most an hour and atleast you'll know what you are left to do. Its a good way to get of a car really quick if getting alot of money is not really an issue.
Well if you can't sell your car there must be a reason, either your asking too much or just no one wants it. Why would a dealer give you more than it's worth? I love how dealers get such a bad name because they don't want to work for free, or pay you to buy a car from them. When you buy food or gas or anything else for that matter, do you go and bitch to them that they're ripping you off? No, you just pay and leave. It's funny how people think dealers make $10,000 off customers. They're usually jumping up and down if they make $2,000. People just always want retail for their trade-in and want to buy their car for wholesale.
You will definately get more money for your car on your own. I would say Ebay is your best bet.

That's becuase you modded it. Car would be worth more if it was stock. If car max wants to resell that car they need to go buy stock parts. So they offset th cost by lowering the trade in value.
If you go in with non stock wheels on the car, you lose ~1k off the bat.
14-15k trade in value? that sounds more like the retail price!
