Just as long as you're getting your money's worth out of it, it's all good.

Well, if you are referring to my broken head stud that limited me to only 300 HP at the back wheels as 'never working right' you might be close to being correct. That didn't occur till the 120K mile point so it did give me a lot of trouble free service up until then. It was still my daily driver right up to 130K miles when I decided to overhaul it after my starter ring gear lost a couple of teeth which required pulling the motor to replace.

In five years of daily driving there was one time back in 1999 when it was in the shop for two days while I changed the clutch and adjusted the valves.

I would say thats pretty trouble free for a modified turbo that was pushing around 2HP per cubic inch.

From what I understand your stang was pushing about the same power per cube but had a bad habbit of blowing up every couple of visits to the track.

Actually, I was refering to the famous dyno sheet you posted which bore a striking similarity to a EEG from Charles Manson. I'm truly glad you have been able to enjoy your 930 for almost half of it's life. May your happiness continue uninterupted.

Ah, well, then you understand incorrectly. It ran low 11's in one place or another almost weekly for about 3 years. I averaged about 1 headgasket every 6 months. I came to look fondly on them as a safety valve. They would blow before the 130k mile engine did. If I have the parts on hand, I can change them in an afternoon. (practice makes perfect). Not only did I run the hell out of it every weekend, but it also got me to work and the grocery store on a daily basis in exactly the same mode as it ran at the track.

As for the 390, I anxiously await finally seeing this mythical 2HP/ cu. in. You have certainly bench raced the hell out of it for the last 2½, er, excuse me, 2 years. It will be good to see it in action.

True that John. Im right there with you. I spend the money necessary to get the car where i want it, and in a reliable fashion. I absolutely hate buying junk that doesn't last. Less problems and less headaches in the end.
