What ya think about '99 Hyundai Elantra
show me a ford, chevy, or other manufacturer that has a car on the street and still getting the same fuel economy it had the day it rolled off the showroom floor. That's reliability. How many ford escorts, tempo's are on the street ( their basic "compact" car)? how about older caveliers? daewoo's reliability is so good they went tits up. honda, why do you think people call the civic the "me too" car, because when you say you have one someone else nearby says "me too", domestic muscle heads hate them cause their like rabbits, fucking everywhere,
and now with gas, I love my 34 mpg with a lead foot. I have not changed the oil in 10000 miles ( Iknow lazy) and it still gets that high fuel economy.
what is the oldest american sold hyundai you can get....... 1986 not bad, when did you first really start to hear about them? mid 90's. so for 10 years they have been in the mainstreem, approximately. for an auto maker, I need more than that before I'd consider it. It took 10 years for them to get off the ground and out to the public, doesn't say too much.
I have not had a bad experience with hyundai, just really good experience's with other makes, that and the Oh so huge ( sarcasm ) following don't have me convinced.
you may not like it but honda's are where its at for reliability, a 98 accent is worth about as much as a 92 civic hatchback ( as far as price is concerned), resale is also a honda strength.

I don't do an oil change on this engine cause I have one that I am waiting to swap in. second the fact that I can go that long on the older engine and still get good fuel economy speaks for how good the engine is, most cars start to suffer fuel economy when an oil change is needed. Also on the newer engines the service interval is 10k miles, so the first oil change (without filter change) is at 10k and then every 10k after, with every other change including a filter change. this is straight from the factory service manual. try to remember that not every car is restricted to the old rules of maintenance, some of us drive cars that use newer technology, and not some gas guzzling ford. the reason honda's blow motors are numerous, no doubt, as it relates to oil it would be from not having enough, as long as there is some and the oil galleys are not cloged, the motor keeps going.
the true test of something is not how it performs when conditions are perfect, but how it performs when the shit hits the fan.
hondas hold up under this test, how long before your "superior" car would give up?
also this is a thread asking for opinions, so if you are going to start calling names for my opinion, then you need to get the fuck out of this thread. You may think I am an idiot for the way I am handling my car, as I have explained there is a purpose, however I know your an idiot for claiming to own that 04 cobra.
