Harnesses-which&why?
The reason you cannot just install 5pt harnesses blindly without a cage has to do with the angles of the rear belts. If you were to wreck, they can cause spinal compression and really fuck you up. They do make special harnesses that mount far back near the rear speakers on most cars that will allow you to run them without a cage safely.
WIth that said, I would go with Simpson Camlock harnesses. Do *not* get non-camlock if you drive the car frequently, they are a PITA.

An honest man. Don't you know you're supposed to exagerate about things like that? You're doing 170, I know you are.

you sure you aren't hitting ~ 120 or so? because the guy i know who owns this car :

which is lightened with a fully built 3.8RS motor hits ~140 on the back straight. he also a full race suspension set-up + a lot of sticky rubber so I would assume he would have a little more exit speed than you in addition to an aerodynamic advantage...??...
not trying to argue or be a smartass or anything just curious.
Chuck, what kind of speeds do you hit on the back straight. I know I hit right about 120.

It's 140 indicated - I haven't calibrated my speedometer on this one - my other one was pretty well on though, I'll have to do that with my gps. It must be way off - on another note - I was talking to one of the mildly prepped turbos and he was telling me that he's usually over 160.
I'll have to see if you can see the speedo in the video - def over 120 though - I do that pretty consistently - in fact up to 120 under the pedestrian bridge before 7.
It's ok Kris - no biggy.
I did hold off a GT3 for almost three laps - must have been a rookie driver though...

nice... maybe i am mistaken about the speeds in my car. i know the 993 hits about 140 and the boxters hit about 136 when they have the hardtops on them. I have run against my brothers 87 911 cab and I have been able to pull him top end but I will attest to the strenth of those cars powerband at higher speed... 1st gear they are dogs (no offense but i have spent alot of time driving his car) but once you get into 3rd they run pretty strong for a car with around 217 horsepower.
