It's to damn hot in Florida to not have a/c in my opinion....I'll loose the 2 extra horsepower.....Especially when it rains....

 

I wouldn't remove it in a daily driver. I'm a big fan of weight reduction, but my car still has and will always have a/c, heat, stereo, power steering, etc. Soon it will be back to a full interior minus back seat, for a while I've had the back interior out messing with wiring, running ic sprayer line, and trying to track down an annoying water leak.

Of course, I never use it unless I'm on the highway. 7.8:1 compression off boost power + ac= no acceleration whatsoever off boost. Plus, the fan motor hasn't been getting juice for the last few months, but I'll fix that eventually .

 

im with ron... removing AC is stupid on a daily driver...

if you daily drive your fast car... just make it faster... fuck the weight benefits... you lose 25 pounds... what is that worth, a 2.5 hp bump?

we drive 3800 lb supras, you think weight is the first thing that crossed our minds? no... wrongah just crank the boost, this shit will take it.

however, the AC in the supras doesnt work for varying reasons;
1JZ car needs custom highpressure line
91 needs new high pressure line
89 needs to run.

then the RX7, and DSM's would probably work just fine if i charged it.... i just dont want to charge it and then find out that there is a leak and loose my AC in 3 months. just feels like $$$ out the window. so, damned if i do, damned if i dont.

btw, Anyone who needs to put a kill switch on their bumper has a "race" car i hate those things... i refuse to add one untill the officials say i cant race unless i add one. Im'a ride this out, see where i get.

the number one reaon i dont have a MK3 is the weight. Man thos things are pigs. HEy wanna run when i get my 7m in my car. Ill let you know when thats done. JK man im sure your ca is a beast i am even thinking of going 1jz instead of a 7m. i dunno yet but well see.

i've got a bone stock vehicle, factory non-A/C car, does that make it a race car? those who whine about the cars not having A/C are race only need to get over it, i also always hear those sorry excuses after a loss "well my car is a street car cause it has A/C" i look at it this way, if you can live without it than what's the use of having it there just causing you problems, i'm so glad my car doesn't have A/C.

 

With the exception of probably 1-2 months out of the year, I can't live without A/C. I would only eliminate A/C in a car which only saw weekend/track driving.

 

i only have one car and i've removed the ac, heater core and everything else that clutters up the engine bay.

i just roll the windows down and avoid long stops in traffic during the summer time.

 

In my hf since iam only getting 62hp or less I could get killed driving in traffic so I need that extra 2hp. So for now I just leave it off. I do plan on removing it though since I don't really use it that much in the summer anyways. And iam only 4mins to and back from work. Plus I want my engine bay to really look nice this time.
