Toyota and Lexus have almost always been very secretive of their cars in development and the only pics of them usually only come out about 6 months in advance of when they debut.

I didn't even know what the Lexus RX330 looked like until two months before it came out, and I was the damn inventory manager. The GX470 was almost the same way, except they had one for us to all look and touch at a Lexus Ride & Drive.

If they were to release the Supra, it would most likely be on the same chassis as the Lexus SC430 (this would explain the V like it's always been. The only picture out of all the prototypes I've seen on the internet that even comes close to the current SC is ...

The next Supra will in fact NOT have an inline 6 engine. Toyota will be replacing all inlines for V-formation engines when each model's redesign come up (as of March 23rd, 2004).

If the next Supra is not on the current SC chassis, expect it to probably be based on the Toyota FXS concept car chassis and to also expect the SC to follow shortly afterwards.
looks to much like a porchse

so any hints as to a release date? payments are up on my WRX in 2007. if the right car is out before that, i'd have no problem stepping up, but i can't see driving around in my WRX after i've paid it off. car payments 'til the day i die, or at least until i can afford to buy all my cars with cash.

and the guy said the V8 was very capable under boost, but did you take that as it would come stock with FI, or is this something that it 'could' handle for aftermarket? i like the idea of a turbo V8, but not a NA V8.

And even if your source worked at the regional office, there is no way in hell even they would get to "... put some miles on the GT model" if it hasn't been announced yet.

Toyota has NEVER let any prototype or concept cars out on the road. Especially in the United States.

Ever heard of the elementry game called 'Telephone' where everyone sits in a line and something said had to be passed through everyone to the last person? It's just smoke being blown up your ass.

I could see a GT running around in cali heavily camo'ed. Announce it then release it about a month before hand and watch nissan go into panic mode:o . This would be interesting the if it does end up being a TTV8 because Nissan certainly has the ammo to respond in the form of the VK56DE.

Ferrari 360, Lotus Esprit TT.....etc. Plenty of sporty V8 "imports". Funny how all the import enthusiasts claim the replacement for displacement is boost, then the import manufacturers all come out with V8's for their premium models. And to lump the Supra with other "sport compacts" would be an insult IMO.

Never thought the Supra was all that, but that 2JZ engine was a very nice piece of engineering. I hoped Toyota would stick with the I-6 in keeping with the Supra tradition, it would be as if Ferrari started building 4 cylinders. But then again, the i-Force V8 in the Tundra is a stout piece as well; that thing under boost would be a monster.

Yeah we are, but like I said its not his fault. He had problems with the body shop...dont remember exactly what was wrong, but it wasnt his fault. He's definetly a Supra owner, as his is equipped with 2 turbochargers and he's been saving since he was my age for it.
