now if this car was actually pushing out 230 at the wheels with some nice agressive suspension, an LSD, it would interest me, but seriously, the only sport compact that america has going for it right now is the SRT4.

Who cares what you could put down with what you don't have?
Sorry not all cars come from the factory with the potential of an 03 cobra/ls1/srt4/dsm, etc etc, but this car is untested and we don't know how it will respond to bolt ons, but forced induction cars tend to respond very well.

yep. That car could use some work. From the factory, the head flows ok, not great...economy in mind again. The suspension is decent, 12psi is reached late. etc. The GM (aftermarket) heads are ridiculous flowing, but the pulley cannot be changed without a different fuel management. (to the best of my knowledge). The aftermarket support looks good because it is a universal GM engine, so we'll have to see. what times do some of the other cars run from the factory? We know the SRT-4 is pretty quick. what are it's times from the factory? Mitsu turbo? etc. 14.7 ain't bad for an "economy" car.

Certainly a lot of bashing for acar that no ones even gotten yet and to flog. GM for sure coulda spent a little more time in designing it, but that probably didnt wanna get stuck further behind in the market than they already are. And im guessing at 12 PSI, its a really small blower.

The Saturn Ion RedLine (RL) features the 2.0L Supercharged ECOTEC (LSJ) motor. The supercharger is the latest generation Eaton M62 helical roots style positive displacement supercharger and offers a maximum of 12 psi of manifold pressure for a 40% increase in power. The latest generation offers a more efficient low-end power and improved durability from a more precision made zero-contact assembly. Also the supercharger is configured with an internal bypass valve to lower off power loads resulting in less power used and higher MPG ratings when cruising. The intake manifold that the supercharger is mated to is an all aluminum port matched intake manifold with an internal water-to-air Laminova heat exchanger intercooler. This style of heat exchanger is more efficient than even that of a bar and plate intercooler and offers more compact packaging. When the whole package is configured together and controlled with a high speed PCM it produces 200 HP and 200 lb-ft TQ for a very solid and reliable powertrain package.
