I had a few friends over last night, and we got into a conversation about how long people we know had been into cars. The 86 CRX in my garage sparked the conversation cause a friend of mine said that was the first car he ever "built". I started thinking about some people I knwo from TR that I could atest have been in *The Game* for at least 10 yrs. And if you ave been in for a while what was the first car you "built".

way back in he day when I was a young buck my first project was a 1972 VW Squareback with a Porsche 356 pancake swap. We did a formula posi transaxle which was great. Dual dual webber 40mm carbs made it scream! Of all the projects I have ever done or had taht car is the 1 I wish I would have kept.

First modified car that I built?
1987 Accord 4dr Dx. Painted the hubcaps white (same color as car) and cut the springs. 6 months later I built a 1987 Crx Si (red). I put some 16" black mesh wheels on it, JR cam, JR Header (before Jackson racing made superchargers), eibach springs and a custom clutch from JR.

That was RIGHT after I graduated high school back in 1992....about 12 years ago.

Thats not a bad thing everyone has to start somewhere. I gave up on cars in 97-98 when they started cracking down on Gandy. The last car I had was a 97 Sentra sedan. We did a few things to it and I pretty much rode out. Lost the drive for racing in cars after that.Starting spending more time with my bike and never went back until now.

 

i'd say about 9 years ago. I was 16 and I just got my first car (2 door 1.6L sentra w/ about 98K miles) I began researching Nissans. I always had a thing for em. found out about the whole honda thing that was happening. read magazines, became more interested. wasn't too much support for Nissans at the time, there was Stillen and JWT, but thats about it.. Wanted a GSR so I had a faster stock car then the sentra, but couldn't afford one, so I started figuring out what it would take to make the sentra faster (too much $$$)

been into cars my whole life. I only have little wrench experience though unfortunately. now that Im older, got a degree, done my research and know what Im talking about Im looking to start having fun and getting DIRTY

 

the capri i had in HS put a carbed 302 from 1972 mustang in.

but ten years ago I was 12, and I wasnt doing shit

 

I'd say around 15 years since I personally started wrenching on cars. Longer than that if you include watching my pops and uncles play around with theirs.
