Forget which, but there's a Cadillac dealer here in Tampa that sells them. I was thinking of picking one up since I was under they impression they were around 32k. Reality however stepped in and slapped me upside the head with a 45k sticker price. Hell no.
I don't think they are available for sale yet? The red one I would guess is the car that was at the Tampa Auto Show which isn't an USDM spec car. The red car if I'm not mistaken had a crappy Rover motor in it. I was quoted 40k by a Cadilac dealership slated to sell the Elise.
The new power plant is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder sourced from Toyota as is the six-speed manual transmission. Lifted from the Celica GT-S, the engine is good for 187 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque.

There are going to be 3 different versions to chose from - Base, Touring and Sport. Here's the info:
Base car: $39,985
175/55R16, 225/45R17 Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS tires (designed specifically for the Elise)
Bilstein monotube gas shock absorbers
AP Racing twin-piston aluminum front brake calipers
Brembo single-piston rear brake calipers
ABS
Touring package: + $1,350
Full leather seating
Electric windows and full carpets
Upgraded Blaupunkt stereo w/MP3 player
Interior stowage net and additional sound deadening
Double insulated (thermal & sound) soft top
Sport package: + $2,490
7 spoke forged wheels (lightest available - 1 inch wider fronts)
Yokohama A048LTS tires. The softer Yokohama tires should improve 0-60 times by 0.2 seconds.
Adjustable dampers and springs with adjustable ride height
Other options include Hardtop: $1,475 (body color). All cars come with a 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty.
Performance is nice - 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds, Top speed approximately 150 mph, Estimated fuel mileage: 30 mpg.

thing's sweet as hell, but just like Show, i'm probably a little too tall for it.

This car was on my list but now that we have a little baby boy on the way it doesn't seem like such a good idea. I imagine that I won't be owning a two seater car until right around 2023.
that thing is a DEATH trap waiting to happen........light as fucked with no support at all!

No support at all? The driver is enclosed, there is a rollbar, and if it's coming to US shores than it has passed crash testing.
As far as its light weight adding to any illusion you possess of it being dangerous, I disagree again. I'd pick a light car like the Elise over some road heavy mustang (just a random pick) any day. With less mass it's a hell of a lot easier to control and brake.

:o :o
Only issue I'd have with it is Lotus quality. Doing a search online it seems our friends in Britain have to deal with the occasional headache of miscellaneous fasteners working themselves loose.
